If you have placed a call to Diggers Hotline within the last two weeks you may have noticed a new voice prompting your selections. Paul Gallas, one of our call center representatives, won a company-wide contest to earn the title “Diggers Hotline Idol” and be the voice on the phone system.
Diggers Hotline Idol was created as a fun way for everyone at Diggers Hotline to get involved with a phone system update. A new phone system at Diggers Hotline installed earlier this year makes it easier to make changes to some of the voice commands and prompts that callers hear.
Starting in early July there were 32 people that signed up to participate; all of the contestants were given the same portion of the script and asked to record their audition. The entire company could listen to the auditions and then rank the contestants on a scale of 1 to 10. Seven contestants moved on from three preliminary rounds. These seven recorded another portion of the script, with the top three vote getters advancing to the finals, where a third portion was recorded and voted upon. The winner, Paul Gallas, had the highest score in the preliminary round (7.52 out of 10), the semi-finals (7.29) and the finals (7.91). Justin Feldman and Alex Greco were the other two finalists.
So the next time you place a call to Diggers Hotline you will be greeted by the voice of our winner and you will know that Paul beat out 31 other employees to be the voice of Diggers Hotline.
Diggers Hotline is Wisconsin's one-call center. Anyone in the state who is digging, excavating or disturbing the soil is required by law to contact Diggers Hotline at least three working days before beginning work.
