50 years strong—and just getting started. Thank you for being part of our journey as we celebrate a milestone anniversary.
XNational 811 Day is on August 11 (8/11) and serves as an important reminder about the importance of Diggers Hotline, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary of helping protect Wisconsin communities.
Dialing 811 connects you with Diggers Hotline to make a free request, or file a request online.
Since 1976, the nonprofit Diggers Hotline has connected homeowners and excavators with utility owners before digging begins, helping prevent injuries, service disruptions, and costly repairs. Over the past five decades, Diggers Hotline has helped millions of homeowners and professional excavators learn the location of buried utility lines.
Every digging project, no matter the size, requires contacting Diggers Hotline to ensure underground utilities have been marked before digging. Diggers Hotline takes your job site information and passes it on to Wisconsin utilities that mark the location of their buried lines with paint or flags.
Planting trees, installing fences, building a retaining wall, adding an irrigation system, mailbox installation, and landscaping are a few examples of projects that require contacting Diggers Hotline first.
Diggers Hotline has over 1,400 utility members and processes more than one million locate requests annually.
